Milan's San Siro Stadium May Host ATP 250 Grass-Court Event from 2028

A new ATP 250 tournament on grass is coming to Milan in 2028, with the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation recently acquiring the rights to the event. The federation's president, Angelo Binaghi, has announced that the tournament will take place in June and San Siro stadium, home to AC Milan and Inter Milan, is a strong contender to host the event. While no final decision has been made, Binaghi noted that the stadium's location in northern Italy makes it a suitable choice due to climate reasons. The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation has been actively working to bring more prominent tennis events to the country, including the ATP Finals in Turin and the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna. Additionally, the federation is investing in infrastructure, such as a retractable roof for the Campo Centrale at the Foro Italico, to support the growth of tennis in Italy. With this new tournament, Italy aims to establish itself as a major player in the tennis world, with aspirations to make the Rome Masters a fifth Grand Slam tournament.
