Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

In a remarkable display, Kap Vert claimed Scotland's most prestigious National Hunt award, with Philip Hobbs and Johnson White emerging victorious. The six-year-old, having only his fifth outing over fences, demonstrated exceptional strength under Sean Houlihan's guidance, outpacing Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. Despite his inexperience, Kap Vert's jumping technique withstood scrutiny, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who lost momentum after a crucial error early in the home straight, ultimately finishing fourth. Git Maker, meanwhile, made a significant mistake nearly a mile from the finish line but managed to recover, finishing second, just a length and a half behind Kap Vert, and edging out the 4-1 favorite Kim Roque. This victory served as ample consolation for Hobbs and White, who had earlier finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, taking home the substantial £112,000 first prize.
