Thunder Begin Title Defense with Convincing Win

The Oklahoma City Thunder kicked off their title defense with a resounding 119-84 victory over the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of their Western Conference playoff series. In other playoff action, Jayson Tatum made a successful return to the postseason, scoring 25 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out seven assists as the Boston Celtics cruised past the Philadelphia 76ers 123-91. The Celtics, who never trailed, built a 35-point lead behind Tatum's 21 first-half points and Jaylen Brown's 26 points. The 76ers, missing Joel Embiid, were led by Tyrese Maxey's 21 points and eight assists. Victor Wembanyama also made a stunning playoff debut, scoring 35 points to power the San Antonio Spurs to a 111-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Wembanyama set an NBA record for most points in the first half of a playoff debut and broke the Spurs' franchise record for most points in a playoff debut.
