Hollie Doyle's Blog: Aiming to Uncover Derby Potential with Wareeth

This week, Sky Sports Racing ambassador Hollie Doyle will be in action at Newmarket's Craven meeting, with a notable ride on the promising Derby contender Wareeth in the Listed Feilden Stakes. On Wednesday, Doyle's mount Wareeth, trained by Archie Watson, will take on the challenge in the Listed Feilden Stakes, a significant step up in class following his impressive 14-length victory in a novice race over 1m at Newcastle last month. Although Wareeth does not currently hold a Derby entry, he has shown great promise since his racecourse debut, and this second start will be crucial in determining his potential. He faces stiff competition from Aidan O'Brien's Isaac Newton, who boasts an official rating of 106 and holds a Derby entry, as well as Godolphin's Poseidon's Warrior, who also makes the leap from novice company. Both Wareeth and Poseidon's Warrior are entered in the traditional Derby trial, the Group 2 Dante at York next month. Doyle will also be riding Heather Main's sprinter Zoulu Chief in the Weatherbys With Venatour Racing Handicap, expecting another strong performance from the five-year-old, who has been busy on the All-Weather over the winter. Additionally, Doyle has ridden work on Jane Chapple-Hyam's outsider Harlequin Breeze and believes she is worth her place in the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes, despite being a maiden after three starts. Impossible Mission needs to prove himself on turf, receiving weight from all his rivals in the National Stud Handicap, while Lady Fizz makes her debut in the Molson Coors British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes. On Thursday, Doyle will ride Marco Botti's Shergar Cup winner Prince Of India in the Zyn Abernant Stakes, expecting a strong performance from the powerfully built colt. Hawk Mountain is also anticipated to make a winning return in the Group 3 Betway Craven Stakes, strengthening his own Derby claims.
