Oleksandr Usyk has pledged to assist Anthony Joshua in defeating Tyson Fury. Joshua, a former world champion who lost to Usyk on two occasions, has joined Usyk's training camp, and the unbeaten, unified heavyweight champion has welcomed him with open arms. 'We support one another, work together, and have a great time. We've transitioned from being rivals to friends,' Usyk stated in an interview with Sky Sports.
As a two-weight, three-time undisputed world champion, Usyk has twice defeated Fury and is well-equipped to provide Joshua with valuable advice on how to take down the former two-time heavyweight champion. 'I believe AJ will triumph over my friend 'Greedy Belly',' Usyk said.
According to Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, negotiations for a highly anticipated all-British heavyweight showdown between Joshua and Fury are progressing. Usyk might even be in Joshua's corner for the fight. Hearn expressed his confidence in Joshua's abilities, stating, 'It's definitely not going to be an easy fight, but we're all confident.' Training with Usyk has already made a significant impact on Joshua, with Hearn noting, 'Being around the best fighter in the sport is incredible, and he loves it.' Usyk is currently preparing for his own fight against Rico Verhoeven on May 23 and remains focused on the task at hand, saying, 'Now I have focus only on Rico, and then we can discuss future plans.'
