Itoje Backs Borthwick to Lead England to Greatness

Maro Itoje has voiced his unwavering support for Steve Borthwick, convinced that England can accomplish remarkable feats under his guidance, despite a dismal Six Nations campaign. England's Six Nations hopes were dashed as they finished fifth, suffering four consecutive losses, including a historic defeat to Italy. RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney has hinted that Borthwick will be given the opportunity to redeem himself in the upcoming Nations Championship. If Borthwick can deliver a satisfactory performance against South Africa, Fiji, and Argentina in July, he will be well-positioned to see out his contract until the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. Itoje acknowledges that England fell short of expectations in the Six Nations, having entered the tournament on a 11-Test winning streak, but remains confident that Borthwick and his coaching staff can reverse their fortunes. 'We have faith in our approach,' Itoje stated. 'Steve, along with his coaching team, is exceptional. We just need to regroup, learn from our mistakes, and move forward with positivity. Although our Six Nations campaign was not as successful as we had hoped, my confidence in the team remains unshaken. I firmly believe that this England team will go on to achieve great things, we just need to learn from our experiences and push forward.'
