Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

Kap Vert, trained by Philip Hobbs and owned by Johnson White, dominated the Coral Scottish Grand National, outpacing Git Maker and Kim Roque. Under the guidance of Sean Houlihan, the six-year-old showcased impressive form, despite being in only his fifth run over fences. His inexperience did not hinder his jumping, which withstood scrutiny throughout the race. In contrast, Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux struggled, making a critical error early in the home straight that led to a fourth-place finish. Git Maker also made a significant mistake almost a mile from the finish, nearly unseating Jonathan Burke, but managed to recover and secure second place, just a length and a half behind Kap Vert, with Kim Roque coming in third. This victory served as ample consolation for Hobbs and White, who had earlier finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, taking home the £112,000 first prize.
