According to former world heavyweight champion David Haye, the time has come for Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury to finally agree on a fight. Haye, a renowned two-weight world titlist who was a star in British heavyweight boxing before Joshua and Fury rose to fame, is convinced that this fight is essential for both boxers' legacies.
Haye expressed to Sky Sports that this is the biggest possible fight for both Joshua and Fury, and they should be pushing for it to happen as soon as possible. He believes that they both need each other to cement their places in boxing history and to prove who is the better fighter. Both Fury and Joshua have recently lost their world titles to Oleksandr Usyk, with Fury returning to boxing after a year-long break and Joshua recovering from a car accident.
There are ongoing talks for the two to fight this year, although Joshua is likely to have a warm-up bout first. Haye acknowledges that both boxers are past their prime, but he thinks that this could be their commercial peak, similar to the highly anticipated fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
He also believes that Fury's recent 12 rounds with Arslanbek Makhmudov will have prepared him well for the fight against Joshua.
