The International Cricket Council has announced a substantial hike in the prize money for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026, with the winning team set to receive $2.34 million and the runners-up taking home $1.17 million. All participating teams are guaranteed a minimum of $247,500, more than double the amount from the previous edition.
The tournament, scheduled to take place in England and Wales, will feature 12 teams competing in 33 matches across 24 days. The ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta, stated that the growth of women's cricket is accelerating, and the expansion of the tournament, combined with a record prize pool, demonstrates the commitment to building a stronger global game.
The tournament director, Beth Barrett-Wild, added that the event is poised to become the most attended women's cricket event in history, with record-breaking ticket demand and the largest-ever prize pot for a global women's T20 competition. The prize money for the top two teams remains the same as in 2024, but there was a significant increase of 134 per cent compared to 2023.
The total prize pot for the tournament has grown to $8,765 million, with the winners and runners-up prize money remaining unchanged from the previous edition. The tournament will be held across seven venues, featuring teams from Australia, Bangladesh, India, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, and West Indies. The trophy tour will kick off at Lord's Cricket Ground before traveling to qualified European nations and hosting cities ahead of the first ball on June 12.
