Nijman Secures Fourth Ranking Title of 2026 with Dominant Performance

Wessel Nijman continued his impressive start to 2026 by winning his fourth ranking title of the year at Players Championship 10 in Wigan. Nijman defeated former Grand Slam of Darts champion Scott Waites 8-2 in the final to reclaim the top spot on the Players Championship rankings. This victory came after Chris Dobey briefly overtook Nijman following his win at Players Championship Nine. Nijman's path to the title included a hard-fought win against Martin Lukeman, followed by victories over Justin Hood, Adam Gawlas, Niels Zonneveld, and Beau Greaves. He averaged almost 110 in a six-leg demolition of Gawlas and maintained a high level of performance throughout the tournament. In the final, Nijman capitalized on Waites' slow start to establish an early lead, which set the tone for his dominant display. Despite Waites reducing the deficit, Nijman regained control and eventually won with a 101.34 average. Nijman reflected on his performance, stating it was probably the best floor event he had played all year, and he is now targeting more silverware in the upcoming European Darts Grand Prix. With this win, Nijman climbs to 18th on the PDC Werner Rankings Ladder and is closer to his goal of reaching the top 16.
