England Rugby Legend Joe Launchbury Announces Retirement
Veteran England lock Joe Launchbury has confirmed that he will be hanging up his boots at the end of the current season. With 70 caps for his country, including three Six Nations championships and appearances at the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, the 35-year-old has had a storied career. Since joining Quins in 2023, Launchbury has made 50 appearances, although he has been limited to just six outings this term. In a statement on the Harlequins' website, Launchbury reflected on his decision, saying, "The time feels right to step away from rugby at the end of this season." He expressed his gratitude to his teammates, past and present, and acknowledged the profound impact rugby has had on his life, providing him with a sense of purpose, lasting friendships, and unforgettable memories. Launchbury, who has given his all to the sport, now looks forward to spending more time with his family and potentially staying involved in the game in a different capacity.
