Manchester City is providing support to Antoine Semenyo after the player revealed he has been subjected to further racial abuse this season. The 26-year-old Ghana international recently shared a screenshot of a racist comment on his Instagram story, stating 'It's started again'. This incident comes after Semenyo reported being racially abused by a supporter during the opening match of the season against Liverpool, while playing for his former side Bournemouth.
The referee, Anthony Taylor, stopped the game, and a 47-year-old man was arrested and charged with a racially aggravated public order offence. A trial is set to take place on April 22. The Premier League and the FA have both condemned the abuse, stating that racism has no place in football or society and that they will work together to address the issue and ensure that those found guilty face severe consequences. Both organizations have expressed their commitment to making football a safe and inclusive space for all players and fans.
