Red Bull has unveiled a series of changes to its technical department, aimed at bolstering its performance and innovation capabilities. Ben Waterhouse, who has been a part of the team since 2017 as head of performance engineering, will take on an expanded leadership role as chief performance and design engineer, reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache.
This new position will oversee both design and vehicle performance, allowing for greater integration and faster development of high-performing solutions. Meanwhile, Andrea Landi will join the team from Racing Bulls on July 1 as head of performance, bringing with him experience as deputy technical director and previously working as deputy head of vehicle performance at Ferrari.
Landi will report to Waterhouse. According to a Red Bull statement, these changes are in line with the team's long-term technical goals, emphasizing the development of internal talent and the recruitment of top expertise from across the sport. Red Bull has faced a tough start to the new era of F1 regulations, currently sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship, 119 points behind leaders Mercedes after just three races.
The team has also experienced a number of key staff departures in recent years, with several members joining rival teams, including Gianpiero Lambiase, who will join McLaren in 2028. The Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, is set to take place on May 1-3, live on Sky Sports F1.
