Jon Rahm concluded a tumultuous week in LIV Golf with a resounding seven-under 64 on Sunday, securing a six-shot victory at LIV Golf Mexico City, marking his second win this year on the Saudi-backed circuit. Amidst uncertainty surrounding the league's financial stability, CEO Scott O'Neil addressed staff with a memo assuring funding through the end of the year, aiming to alleviate growing concerns. This move followed reports suggesting the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) may withdraw its financial support. A power outage on Tuesday and a two-hour streaming disruption during the opening round further fueled speculation about the league's future. However, LIV Golf announced its return to Chapultepec Golf Club next year. Rahm, who went winless last season but claimed the points title, had previously experienced disappointment at Chapultepec in 2017 during a World Golf Championship. This time, Rahm's victory was unmistakable after he birdied the reachable par-4 second hole and eagled the next, playing bogey-free throughout. Rahm expressed his surprise at the win, stating, 'If you had told me last week on Thursday afternoon that I'd be winning by a six-shot margin this week, I wouldn't have believed you, given how poorly I played.' Bryson DeChambeau withdrew from the final round due to a wrist injury, citing concerns about exacerbating the issue. DeChambeau, who was attempting to become the first player to win three consecutive LIV Golf events, was 16 shots behind Rahm when he withdrew. 'I experienced discomfort in my wrist during yesterday's round and have decided to withdraw from the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City to prevent further injury,' DeChambeau said in a social media post. 'Not how I wanted this week to go.' DeChambeau plans to undergo evaluation and hopes to participate in LIV Golf Virginia, scheduled for May 7-10, just before the PGA Championship. Rahm's Legion XIII team also secured their first win of the year. David Puig finished second with a 66, earning valuable world ranking points and virtually guaranteeing his spot in the PGA Championship. Another strong finish in Virginia could potentially qualify him for the US Open. The next LIV Golf League event, LIV Golf Virginia, is set to take place from May 7-10 at Trump National Golf Club in Washington DC.
