The International Cricket Council has confirmed a 10% increase in the total prize fund for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to take place in England and Wales this summer, with the winning team to receive $2.34m and the runners-up taking home $1.17m. All participating teams are guaranteed a minimum of $247,500, more than double the amount from 2024.
The tournament, which is just 60 days away, will feature 12 teams competing in 33 matches across 24 days in seven venues. The ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta, stated that the growth of women's cricket continues to accelerate, and the expansion of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, combined with a record prize pool, underlines the commitment to building a stronger, more competitive global game. The tournament is expected to set new attendance and viewing records and have a lasting impact on the socio-cultural landscape.
The prize money for the top two teams remains the same as in 2024, but there was a significant increase of 134% compared to 2023. The total prize pot for the tournament has grown to $8,765m, with the 33-match event to be held across 24 days in seven venues. The tournament director, Beth Barrett-Wild, said that the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 is set to be a landmark moment for the game, with record-breaking ticket demand and the largest-ever prize pot for a global women's T20 competition.
