Bromley Miss Opportunity for Promotion After Goalless Draw with Cambridge

Bromley's bid for promotion to League One has been put on hold following a 0-0 draw with Cambridge United at Hayes Lane. Cambridge had two golden opportunities to score within the first 15 minutes, with Ben Knight and Dominic Ball both failing to find the net from promising positions. It wasn't until the 25-minute mark that Bromley created their first scoring chance, with Omar Sownunmi's header sailing over the crossbar with goalkeeper Jack Walton beaten. Cambridge had another chance to take the lead on the half-hour mark when Shayne Lavery's header from Adam Mayor's cross hit the bar. The second half was slow to get going, but Knight's powerful shot from an angle forced a sharp save from Grant Smith, which served as a wake-up call for the hosts. Ben Thompson then saw his close-range effort saved by Walton, before Jude Arthurs' follow-up attempt was deflected over the bar. With 10 minutes remaining, Smith made a superb save to tip Kelland Watts' header over the bar. Despite a late goalmouth scramble, neither team could find a breakthrough.
