LIV Golf's chief executive, Scott O'Neil, has alleviated concerns surrounding the series' funding, stating that it is secure for the current season and that the organization will work diligently to ensure its continuation. The breakaway golf league, backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), has been at the center of speculation regarding potential withdrawal of financial support, with reported investments totaling $5bn since its inception in 2021.
O'Neil addressed these concerns, emphasizing that the series operates like any other privately funded business, with a focus on creating a sustainable business plan. Earlier, LIV Golf team captain Sergio Garcia alluded to funding being in place until 2030, although he did not provide further details. O'Neil's reassurances came after reports emerged of an 'emergency meeting' in New York and potential cessation of funding by the PIF.
Despite this, some LIV Golf players, including Jon Rahm, have expressed minimal concern over the league's future, with Rahm stating that he was not worried as he had not been informed of any imminent announcements.
