The top Scottish National Hunt prize was won by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, with Kap Vert taking the lead and leaving Git Maker and Kim Roque behind in the Coral Scottish Grand National. Having only his fifth run over fences, the six-year-old performed well under Sean Houlihan.
His inexperience did not hinder his jumping, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who lost his chance after a mistake early in the home straight and finished fourth. Git Maker made an even bigger mistake almost a mile from home, but Jonathan Burke managed to recover and finish second, just a length and a half behind, beating the 4-1 favourite Kim Roque. This win was a significant consolation for Hobbs and White, who had finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle earlier in the day with Captain Hugo, and took home the £112,000 first prize.
