Hull KR Dominates Toulouse with Eight Tries, While Leigh Secures Crucial Win Over York

Hull KR delivered a crushing performance with eight tries, securing their third consecutive win in the Betfred Super League with a resounding 46-0 victory over Toulouse. The visitors drew first blood through Elliot Minchella, and despite having another try disallowed, Rhyse Martin extended their lead to 12-0 after Toulouse failed to handle a high kick from Mikey Lewis. The Rovers doubled their score with tries on either side of half-time, starting with Tyrone May's pass to Dean Hadley, followed by Joe Burgess's easy score three minutes into the second half. The hosts' woes deepened as the Grand Final winners from last year ran in their fifth try, with Lewis breaking through the weak Toulouse line and setting up Jez Litten for the score. The away team showed no mercy, punishing Toulouse's attempt to spread the ball left as Peta Hiku intercepted the pass and sprinted the length of the field to score. Lewis's quality shone through again as he darted through the line to set up Jai Whitbread for Rovers' seventh try, before Burgess added his second to cap off a dominant evening and condemn Toulouse to their sixth successive defeat. Meanwhile, Leigh returned to winning ways in the Betfred Super League with a hard-fought 18-6 success over York. Adrian Lam's side, who had won just one of their last four matches, came out on top at the LNER Community Stadium in what could be a pivotal moment in their campaign. Gareth O'Brien and Xavier Va'a traded first-half tries, with Adam Cook's penalty giving the visitors an 8-6 half-time lead. Josh Charnley and Jacob Alick-Wiencke crossed in 10 second-half minutes to help the Leopards grind out the victory and climb to 10th in the table. Both teams were level on two wins from their opening seven games before kickoff, with the Knights one spot above their opponents in 12th place due to a better points difference. Injury-hit Leigh welcomed back some of their wounded players, but still had key figures on the sidelines. One of their returning stars, AJ Towse, produced a brilliant last-ditch tackle to deny Scott Galeano before the away team took the lead. Leigh thought they had their second score, but it was disallowed for offside, galvanizing the hosts to level the score through Va'a's powerful drive. York's try scorer was sin-binned, allowing Cook to regain the lead for the Leopards, which they took into the break. The second half saw few clear-cut chances before Towse had a brilliant chance to score, but a superb covering challenge dislodged the ball. This sparked Leigh into life, and they grabbed their second try after Charnley crossed in the right corner, followed by Alick-Wiencke's barging run for their third try, securing an 18-6 lead. Paul Vaughan was held up short on the away try-line as York fought for a way back into the match, but ultimately fell to their fifth successive Super League defeat.
