Former Hull FC head coach John Cartwright has expressed his disappointment and sense of betrayal after the club announced his departure without providing him with a clear explanation. Cartwright, who will be leaving the club at the end of the current Betfred Super League season, revealed that he was surprised by the decision and has yet to receive any reasoning behind it.

Despite the circumstances, Cartwright has stated that he will continue to fulfill his duties and maintain his loyalty to the players. The 60-year-old Australian coach took the helm at Hull FC at the start of the 2025 campaign and led the team to a seventh-place finish, their highest since 2020. The club has already begun the process of finding a new coach for the 2027 season and currently sits ninth in the Super League standings.
