Joel Tomkins Leaves Catalans Dragons Due to Personal Circumstances

Joel Tomkins, the head coach of Catalans Dragons, has announced his decision to step down from his position due to personal reasons. Having served in the role for nearly a year, Tomkins cited the difficulty of being away from his family as a major factor in his decision. Initially appointed as an interim coach following Steve McNamara's departure, Tomkins was later given the permanent role at the club where he spent the final years of his playing career. In a statement, Tomkins expressed his gratitude for the experience and friendships gained during his time at the club, stating that he has learned a great deal and is leaving as a better coach. However, the challenge of living away from his family for an extended period ultimately led to his decision to leave the club. Tomkins had been absent from the team's last three matches, fueling speculation about his departure. Ryan Sheridan, along with assistant coaches Micky McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce, will take over as interim head coach, starting with the team's next game against Warrington Wolves on April 18.
