Following her defeat to former heavyweight champion Lani Daniels in New York, Shadasia Green was hospitalized for a brain hemorrhage. The fight, which took place at the Madison Square Garden Theater, was for the unified IBF and WBO super-middleweight championships.
Green was stopped in the ninth round after Daniels landed a series of shots, prompting the referee to intervene and Green to be stretchered out of the ring. In a social media post, Green revealed that she had lost consciousness due to brain bleeding but was on the path to recovery in the ICU.
Despite her current health issues, Green expressed determination to return to boxing and regain her title. A unified world champion after defeating Britain's Savannah Marshall last year, Green had been considered a potential opponent for multi-weight undisputed champion Claressa Shields. Green expressed gratitude to those who supported her during this time, including her promoter Nakisa Bidarian and Most Valuable Promotions, who have been by her side throughout her hospitalization.
Most Valuable Promotions released a statement thanking the New York State Athletic Commission, Madison Square Garden, and the hospital for their care and assistance.
