Crystal Palace have advanced to the Conference League semifinals with a 4-2 aggregate win over Fiorentina, despite losing the second leg 2-1 in Florence. However, Fiorentina fought back, scoring either side of the early substitutions of Adam Wharton and Maxence Lacroix due to injury. The Italian side's resurgence was not enough to prevent Palace from reaching their first European semifinal, where they will face Shakhtar Donetsk. Jaydee Canvot's foul on Rolando Mandragora led to Fiorentina's first goal, as Albert Gudmundsson converted the penalty. Wharton's injury forced him off after 30 minutes, replaced by Jefferson Lerma, while Lacroix also departed before halftime, with Chadi Riad taking his place. Despite the setbacks, Palace held on, with Cher Ndour's stunning goal from range proving insufficient for Fiorentina to overturn the deficit. Crystal Palace will now meet Shakhtar Donetsk in the semifinals, with the first leg scheduled for April 30 and the second leg on May 7. Palace were not initially expected to compete in the Conference League, having been demoted due to UEFA ownership rules. However, they continue to make history, with their sights set on the final in Leipzig. Manager Oliver Glasner aims to cap the most successful period in Palace's history by securing the club's first European trophy. Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson reflected on the achievement, stating, 'This is unbelievable for the football club... The fans have stuck by us in difficult times, and hopefully, we can deliver something special.'
