Aston Martin's Struggles to Continue According to Brundle

According to Sky Sports F1's Martin Brundle, Aston Martin's dismal start to the 2026 season is far from over. Despite the promising partnership with design expert Adrian Newey and Honda as their new engine partner, the team has struggled to make an impact, failing to score a single point in the first three races. Alongside newcomer Cadillac, Aston Martin has found themselves at the back of the pack, with Fernando Alonso's 18th-place finish in Japan being the only instance of one of their cars completing a full Grand Prix. Brundle believes that the team's lack of speed and reliability will be difficult to overcome, especially with the current Formula 1 championship calendar and cost caps. The team's plight was further highlighted by Lance Stroll's comment that he and his teammate were competing in their own 'Aston Martin championship'. Brundle stated, 'It's a nightmare, they've got neither speed nor reliability... It's going to be very difficult to turn that around in the time, and they've got to work out what to do first.' The team is working to address engine vibrations and reliability issues, but Brundle expects their struggles to continue until 2027. Fellow commentator David Croft also expressed concerns, saying, 'That is a long-term project to put right the issues that weren't picked up early enough... I think people took their eye off the ball a little bit on all sides of that project.' With ongoing development of the AMR26 chassis and Honda's efforts to improve their power unit, Aston Martin faces an uphill battle to turn their season around.
