Joel Tomkins Steps Down as Catalans Dragons Head Coach Due to Personal Circumstances

Joel Tomkins has announced his decision to leave his position as head coach of the Catalans Dragons, a role he has held for nearly a year, citing personal reasons. Tomkins, a former England international in both rugby league and union, found it challenging to be away from his family and made the decision to step down after spending some time back home. He initially took on the role as an interim coach after Steve McNamara's departure but was later appointed as the permanent head coach. Tomkins expressed his gratitude to the players, staff, and supporters, and wished the club success for the remainder of the season and beyond. His departure comes after the team's recent performances, with Tomkins having been absent from the last three fixtures. Ryan Sheridan will take over as interim head coach, assisted by Micky McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce, starting with the upcoming game against the Warrington Wolves on April 18.
