Argentine Tango had an impressive two-year-old season, including a Listed contest win at Newmarket, and her connections report that she is in excellent form. Lara Antipova, trained by Tom Clover, performed well on her debut at Wetherby in June before finishing second at Wolverhampton in February. She is expected to be a strong contender in this event.
Lahan Kingman finished third to Guineas hopeful Touleen on her first start at Newbury last summer and then ran a credible race when second at Wolverhampton. She is likely to improve on that effort, having shown signs of inexperience.
Andrew Balding's Leonie is another contender, while Cosmic will be making her debut for Richard Hannon, and Stolen completes the field. For fans of jump racing, Newton Abbot will host a six-race card, featuring the Visit Kauto The King 6th May Handicap Chase. Recent winners Soldierofthestorm and Tapley are the headliners in this event. Jonjo O'Neill Jr's Soldierofthestorm achieved his first win over fences at Sandown last month and, having jumped impressively, is the one to beat under this 5lb higher mark.
Tapley, trained by the Suzy Smith team, is the main threat after building on a couple of placed efforts to secure a second fencing success at Stratford. Sheldon is worth considering after his solid second-place finish at Newbury, although he has not achieved a win in over two years.
