Brundle: Aston Martin's Struggles Won't End Anytime Soon

The team has had a disastrous start to the new era of rules, despite the promise brought by the signing of design expert Adrian Newey and the partnership with Honda as their new works engine partner. Alongside newcomer Cadillac, Aston Martin has struggled to score points, with Fernando Alonso's 18th-place finish in Japan being the only instance where one of their cars completed a full Grand Prix. Brundle described the situation as 'painful' and a 'nightmare,' emphasizing the need for the team to address their speed and reliability issues. With the current state of the team, Brundle believes it will be challenging to turn things around, especially considering the relentless Formula 1 championship calendar and cost caps. He predicts that the team's struggles will continue until at least 2027. Aston Martin and Honda are working to improve their package, with a focus on resolving engine vibrations that have caused reliability problems. The team is also awaiting catch-up upgrade opportunities under the Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) rules for 2026. Fellow Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft echoed Brundle's sentiments, stating that the team's issues are a long-term project that will take time to rectify.
