Billam-Smith Sets Sights on Opetaia After Joining Zuffa
Following his signing with Zuffa Boxing, Chris Billam-Smith has expressed his desire to face Jai Opetaia, aiming to solidify his position as the world's best. Billam-Smith, a former WBO cruiserweight champion, will now have his fights broadcast live on Sky Sports. Having lost his title to Gilberto Ramirez, Billam-Smith rebounded with a win over Brandon Glanton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Opetaia, also a Zuffa fighter, recently became the inaugural Zuffa world cruiserweight champion. Billam-Smith stated, "As two of the biggest names in the cruiserweight division, and both being signed under the same promoter, a fight between us is inevitable." He emphasized that this matchup is a key reason for his decision to join Zuffa, driven by his goal to prove himself as the best by defeating top opponents. With a multi-fight deal in place, Billam-Smith, who has been out of the ring for over a year, has been training since January and is eager to announce his next fight soon, ideally in the UK.
