Joel Tomkins Leaves Catalans Dragons Due to Personal Circumstances

Joel Tomkins has announced his decision to resign from his position as head coach at Catalans Dragons, a role he held for nearly a year, citing personal reasons. Tomkins, who had been away from his family for an extended period, revealed that the time apart had been challenging. After a recent stint back home, he made the decision to leave the team after seven games into the Super League season, with the side currently sixth in the standings. Initially appointed as an interim coach following Steve McNamara's departure, Tomkins was later given the permanent role at the club where he spent the final years of his playing career. In a statement, Tomkins expressed his gratitude to the players, staff, and supporters, and wished the club success for the remainder of the season and beyond. Tomkins had been absent from the club's last three fixtures, fueling speculation about his potential exit. Ryan Sheridan, along with assistant coaches Micky McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce, will take over as interim head coach, starting with the team's next game against the Warrington Wolves on April 18.
