Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

The top National Hunt prize in Scotland was won by Kap Vert, trained by Philip Hobbs and owned by Johnson White, who outpaced Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. Under the guidance of Sean Houlihan, the six-year-old Kap Vert demonstrated impressive form, considering it was only his fifth start over fences. His inexperience did not hinder his jumping ability, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who lost his chance after a mistake early in the home straight and finished fourth. Git Maker, who nearly lost his jockey Jonathan Burke due to a significant error almost a mile from the finish, managed to recover and secure second place, just a length and a half behind the winner, while favourite Kim Roque came in third. This victory served as a consolation for Hobbs and White, who had finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo earlier in the day, and they took home the £112,000 first prize.
