Augusta National Golf Tournament Results: Final Standings
The final standings from the prestigious Masters golf tournament, the first major of the year, have been announced, with the competition taking place at the iconic Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia. Rory McIlroy successfully defended his title, making history in the process. McIlroy, the defending champion, emerged victorious after a thrilling playoff against Justin Rose the previous year, becoming the sixth player to achieve the career Grand Slam and the first since Tiger Woods. Despite being the pre-tournament favorite, world number one Scottie Scheffler was unable to claim the title, finishing a shot behind McIlroy, who carded a one-under 71. Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley were tied for third, while Collin Morikawa and Sam Burns shared seventh place. Max Homa and Xander Schauffele rounded out the top 10. The Masters is the first of four major tournaments in men's golf, followed by the PGA Championship in May, the US Open in June, and the Open in July. The PGA Tour will now head to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, with Justin Thomas returning as the defending champion.
