Andoni Iraola to Depart Bournemouth as Club Shortlists Three Potential Replacements

Bournemouth's head coach Andoni Iraola has confirmed his decision to leave the club at the end of the season. According to Sky Sports News, former RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose is one of three candidates being considered to take over from Iraola. With six games remaining, Iraola will see out his contract before departing after a successful three-year tenure. "The time is right for me to step aside," he stated on the club's website. Iraola's final home match will be against Manchester City on May 17, followed by a trip to Nottingham Forest on the last day of the Premier League season. Despite numerous attempts to persuade him to stay, Iraola has opted to leave, although a mutual respect remains between him and the club. The search for his replacement has been ongoing, with three top contenders on the shortlist. Currently 11th in the Premier League, Bournemouth still has a chance to qualify for Europe, sitting two points behind seventh place. Since his appointment in June 2023, Iraola has implemented an attacking style of football, leading the team to a club-record 56 points last season. This season, he has had to adapt to the sales of key players, including Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, and Antoine Semenyo, for a total of £253m. As one of the most sought-after coaching prospects, Iraola's next destination is uncertain, with Athletic Club and other Premier League teams rumored to be interested. Athletic Club is searching for a new head coach, with Ernesto Valverde set to depart, and Iraola is a prime candidate due to his 12-year tenure with the club. Other potential destinations for Iraola include Crystal Palace and Tottenham, although the latter has appointed Roberto De Zerbi. Manchester United is also yet to make a decision on their next head coach, while speculation surrounds Eddie Howe's future at Newcastle, with Iraola emerging as a favorite to take over.
