Red Bull has unveiled a restructuring of its technical division, aiming to bolster its emphasis on innovation and performance. Ben Waterhouse, who has been part of the team since 2017 as head of performance engineering, will assume an expanded leadership role as chief performance and design engineer, reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache.
This new position grants Waterhouse oversight across design and vehicle performance, which Red Bull believes will enhance integration between these areas and expedite the development of competitive solutions. Meanwhile, Andrea Landi is set to join the team from Racing Bulls on July 1 as head of performance, bringing experience from his previous roles, including his tenure as deputy technical director at Racing Bulls and deputy head of vehicle performance at Ferrari.
Landi will report to Waterhouse. According to a statement from Red Bull, these changes underscore the team's long-term technical objectives and its commitment to nurturing internal talent while attracting top expertise from across the sport. The team is currently navigating a challenging start to the new era of F1 regulations, sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship, 119 points behind leaders Mercedes after three races. The restructuring comes amidst a period of significant staff changes, with key members leaving for rival teams, including the recent departure of Gianpiero Lambiase, who will join McLaren in 2028.
The Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, is scheduled to take place on May 1-3, live on Sky Sports F1.
