In a social media post, Green revealed that she had lost consciousness due to brain bleeding but was on the path to recovery in the ICU, stating, 'I will return to claim what is mine, 100 per cent.' A unified world champion after defeating Britain's Savannah Marshall last year, Green was being considered as a potential opponent for multi-weight undisputed champion Claressa Shields. Expressing gratitude, Green thanked those who showed concern during the fight and appreciated the support of her promoter, Nakisa Bidarian, and Most Valuable Promotions, who were by her side in the hospital. Most Valuable Promotions released a statement, saying, 'We are working closely with Shadasia and her family, and we would like to extend our thanks to the New York State Athletic Commission, Madison Square Garden, and the hospital for their care and leadership.'
