Manchester United Nears New Deal with Kobbie Mainoo
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has announced that the club is nearing a new deal with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. The 20-year-old's current contract, signed in 2023, is set to expire in 2027, but the club is eager to renegotiate a new agreement that reflects his growth and current status within the team. Mainoo has become a regular starter under Carrick, featuring in each of the last ten Premier League matches, and has also been included in Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad. The proposed new deal would be a five-year contract, running until 2031, and would include a significant pay rise. Carrick expressed optimism about the negotiations, stating that the club is 'getting closer' to reaching an agreement with the young midfielder. This development marks a significant turnaround in Mainoo's fortunes at Old Trafford, as he was previously not part of the plans under former head coach Ruben Amorim.
