Norris Unveils McLaren's Strategy to Reclaim Title

Lando Norris is confident that McLaren can still mount a strong title defense when the F1 season resumes at the Miami Grand Prix, despite the team's slow start and the strong performances of Mercedes and Ferrari. Although Norris, the reigning champion, has not achieved a podium finish in the first three races, his teammate Oscar Piastri finished second in Japan, demonstrating the team's potential. With almost five weeks to work on their cars, Norris believes McLaren can turn their season around. 'I think we can have a good season, even if we're not where we want to be right now,' Norris said, emphasizing that the team will not give up and will push hard for the championship. Norris, who trails early championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 47 points, cited examples of the team's ability to improve over the course of a season, stating, 'We've been there, done it, learned from it, and I trust that this team knows how to do it again.' Ensuring the reliability of their car and Mercedes power unit is a key area of focus for the team. Norris noted that time in the car and getting laps on the board are crucial for learning how to get the most out of the car, and the team is using the break to work on their understanding of the car. Piastri also expressed confidence in the team's ability to get into regular victory contention, stating, 'We have a lot of work to do to be back at the front consistently, but closing the gap to Mercedes and out-developing the field is something that's within our control.' The team is starting in a stronger position than in previous years, and Piastri has complete trust that they will do everything they can to succeed.
