Bromley's bid for promotion to League One has been put on hold following a 0-0 draw with Cambridge United at Hayes Lane. Cambridge had early opportunities to take the lead, with Ben Knight and Dominic Ball both missing chances within the first 15 minutes. Knight failed to capitalize on a one-on-one situation with Grant Smith, while Ball's shot from Liam Bennett's cross went narrowly wide. It wasn't until the 25-minute mark that Bromley created their first scoring chance, with Omar Sownunmi's header sailing over the bar after beating goalkeeper Jack Walton. Cambridge continued to threaten, and Shayne Lavery's header from Adam Mayor's cross hit the bar on the half-hour mark. The second half was slow to get going, but Knight's powerful drive on the angle forced a sharp save from Grant Smith, sparking the hosts into life. Ben Thompson then saw an effort from close range saved by Walton, and Jude Arthurs' follow-up chance was deflected over. With 10 minutes left, Smith made a superb save to tip Kelland Watts' header over, but despite a late goalmouth scramble, neither side could break the deadlock.
