Millwall's blistering start secured a 2-0 victory over QPR in the Sky Bet Championship, lifting them back into second place in the table. A win had eluded the Lions in their previous five games, but goals from Derek Mazou-Sacko and Camiel Neghli in the early stages ensured they dominated this London derby from the outset.

Alex Neil's side now sit one point above Ipswich, who face Middlesbrough on Sunday, as the battle for Premier League promotion intensifies. Millwall took the lead after just three minutes when Mazou-Sacko fired a fine finish past QPR goalkeeper Joe Walsh.

The French midfielder's first goal for the club eased the nerves of the home supporters, who had witnessed their team lose their last two games at the Den. The hosts continued to press and almost doubled their lead when Tristan Crama headed over from a Casper De Norre cross. Millwall's relentless opening quarter was rewarded with a second goal in the 17th minute, as Neghli curled a shot into the far corner after being set up by Mazou-Sacko. The Lions created numerous chances, with Josh Coburn's header tipped over by Walsh and Zak Sturge shooting into the side netting.

QPR made four half-time substitutions, and one of the replacements, Rumarn Burrell, headed wide from a Jake Clarke-Salter cross early in the second half. Ilias Chair, making his first appearance since November, came close to reducing the deficit with a low shot from outside the area. Millwall did not replicate their first-half attacking threat but came close to a third goal when Coburn met a cross from Femi Azeez, only for Walsh to make a remarkable save with his legs. QPR finally registered a shot on target in the 89th minute, as Nikolas Madsen's effort from 25 yards was kept out by Millwall goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.

Alex Neil praised his team's aggressive start, saying, 'We needed to get the fans onside, we needed to be aggressive, we needed to try and pin them in, sustain pressure.' QPR boss Julien Stephan attributed his team's struggles to a lack of intensity in the first half, stating, 'We spoke about that a lot before the game, but we didn't succeed in finding a way - in the first half - to compete.'
