Bryson DeChambeau has withdrawn from the LIV Golf tournament in Mexico City prior to the final round, citing a wrist injury. DeChambeau, who has secured two victories on the LIV Golf circuit this season, was 16 strokes behind leader Jon Rahm after posting a two-over 73 on Saturday.
In a statement, DeChambeau explained that he experienced discomfort in his wrist during the previous round and decided to withdraw to prevent further injury. He expressed his disappointment with how the week unfolded and wished his team, the Crushers, a strong finish. DeChambeau plans to undergo evaluation and hopes to be ready for the upcoming LIV Golf Virginia event.
Mexico's Luis Carrera replaced DeChambeau in the Crushers GC line-up for the final round. DeChambeau's withdrawal comes amidst uncertainty surrounding the LIV Golf League's future, following reports that the Saudi Public Investment Fund may be ending its financial support. LIV Golf chief executive Scott O'Neil stated that the league is funded through the current season and will then work to secure its continuation. The next LIV Golf League event is scheduled to take place from May 7-10 at Trump National Golf Club in Washington DC.
