Red Bull has unveiled a restructuring of its technical department, aimed at enhancing its emphasis on performance and innovation. Ben Waterhouse, a team member since 2017 and formerly head of performance engineering, will assume an expanded role as chief performance and design engineer, reporting to technical director Pierre Wache.
Waterhouse's new position will span design and vehicle performance, thereby fortifying the integration between these areas and expediting the development of high-performance solutions. Meanwhile, Andrea Landi will join the team on July 1 as head of performance, departing from sister team Racing Bulls, where he served as deputy technical director. Landi, who has previously worked with Ferrari as deputy head of vehicle performance, will report to Waterhouse. According to a statement released by Red Bull, these changes underscore the team's long-term technical objectives and demonstrate its commitment to nurturing internal talent while attracting leading expertise from across the sport.
Red Bull has faced a challenging start to the new F1 era, currently ranking sixth in the Constructors' Championship, 119 points behind leaders Mercedes. The team has also experienced a series of key staff departures in recent years, with Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen's race engineer and head of racing, agreeing to join McLaren in 2028.
The Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, will take place on May 1-3, broadcast live on Sky Sports F1.
