Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game, but then faced a double break on her own serve. However, she regained her composure, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then again in the next service game to take the set 6-4. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, before serving out a 6-4, 6-1 victory in one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will join Andreeva in the final, having defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Potapova took an early lead, going 4-1 up, but Vekic fought back before Potapova took the first set. She continued to dominate in the second set, building a 4-0 lead, and eventually took her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This will be Potapova's first final since her debut win three years ago. The upcoming final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with Andreeva having won their last two encounters, although they have not yet played each other on clay.
