Manchester United Nears New Deal with Kobbie Mainoo
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has stated that the club is nearing a new deal with Kobbie Mainoo, with negotiations "getting closer". The 20-year-old's current contract, signed in 2023, is set to expire in 2027, but the club is keen to offer him a new five-year deal until 2031, reflecting his significant progress and current status within the team. Mainoo's future at the club had been uncertain earlier in the year, but since Carrick took over, he has become a regular feature in the team, playing in each of the last ten Premier League matches. The midfielder has also been included in Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad, featuring in games against Uruguay and Japan. Carrick's own future at the club remains unresolved, but he appears to be making a strong case for the permanent manager position, having led the team to seven wins in ten games and lifted them to third in the Premier League.
