Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

In a notable triumph, Kap Vert claimed the prestigious Scottish Grand National, handing trainers Philip Hobbs and Johnson White a significant victory. Under the skilled guidance of Sean Houlihan, the six-year-old demonstrated impressive form, effortlessly outpacing competitors Git Maker and Kim Roque. Despite his relative inexperience, having only competed in five fence races, Kap Vert's jumping technique withstood scrutiny, unlike that of Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who faltered after a critical error early in the home straight, ultimately finishing fourth. A costly mistake by Git Maker nearly a mile from the finish line allowed Kim Roque to close the gap, though Git Maker managed to recover and secure second place, narrowly edging out the favored Kim Roque. This win served as a welcome consolation for Hobbs and White, who had finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo earlier in the day, and they will return to Somerset with the substantial £112,000 first prize.
