Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, initially broke Ruse's serve in the opening game but then lost her own serve in consecutive games. However, she regained her composure, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then again in the next service game to claim the set 6-4. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, before serving out a 6-4, 6-1 victory in one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will join Andreeva in the final, having defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in her semi-final match. Potapova took an early 4-1 lead but Vekic fought back, only for Potapova to hold on and take the first set. She continued to assert her dominance in the second set, building a 4-0 lead before securing her first win over Vekic in their last three encounters. This marks Potapova's first final since her debut win three years ago. Notably, Potapova's win makes her the first player to represent Austria in the tournament's final since its addition to the Tour calendar in 1991, having previously represented Russia until December 2025. The final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with 18-year-old Andreeva having won their last two matches, although they have yet to play each other on clay.
