Augusta National Golf Tournament: Final Standings

The final standings are in for the Masters golf tournament, the first major of the year, held at Augusta National in Georgia. Defending champion Rory McIlroy made history with a successful title defense, finishing one stroke ahead of world number one Scottie Scheffler. McIlroy's victory marked his second consecutive win, after he defeated Justin Rose in a playoff last year to become the sixth player in history to complete the career Grand Slam. Scheffler, who entered the tournament as the favorite to win, was unable to overcome McIlroy's strong play. Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley all finished tied for third, while Collin Morikawa and Sam Burns shared seventh place. The top 10 was rounded out by Max Homa and Xander Schauffele. The Masters is the first of four major golf tournaments to be held in the next four months, followed by the PGA Championship, the US Open, and the Open. The PGA Tour will next head to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, where Justin Thomas will look to defend his title.
