Trainer Evan Williams Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Assaulting Dog Walker

Evan Williams, a 55-year-old horse trainer, has been sentenced to three years in prison for a violent assault on a 72-year-old dog walker who was on his property. The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, in Llancarfan, Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales, and left the victim with serious injuries, including a fractured arm. Williams was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a trial at Cardiff Crown Court and was unanimously convicted by the jury. During the sentencing, the judge emphasized that Williams had chosen to confront the victim himself instead of waiting for the police to arrive, and that his actions were unacceptable. The judge also referenced a previous incident where Williams had been threatened by poachers on his land, but stressed that this did not justify his decision to take the law into his own hands. Williams is a renowned trainer with multiple Grade One wins, including successes at the Cheltenham Festival.
