Andoni Iraola to Depart Bournemouth as Club Shortlists Three Potential Replacements

Bournemouth's head coach, Andoni Iraola, has announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season. According to Sky Sports News, former RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose is among the three candidates shortlisted to succeed Iraola. Iraola, whose contract expires in three months, has rejected multiple offers to extend his stay at Bournemouth amid interest from his former club Athletic Club and other Premier League teams. With six games remaining, Iraola will depart Bournemouth after a record-breaking three-year tenure. "The time is right for me to step aside," he stated on the club's website. His final home game will be against Manchester City on May 17, followed by a trip to Nottingham Forest on the last day of the Premier League season. Although Bournemouth attempted to persuade Iraola to stay, they respect his decision. The search for a new head coach has been ongoing, with three favored candidates on the shortlist. Bournemouth, currently 11th in the standings, may still qualify for their first European competition in club history. Iraola has been a popular figure since his appointment in June 2023, implementing an attacking and dynamic style of play. The club finished ninth in the Premier League last season with a record 56 points. Iraola has had to manage the sales of key players, including Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, and Antoine Semenyo, for a total of £253m. As one of the Premier League's most sought-after coaching prospects, Iraola's next destination is uncertain. Athletic Club is interested in bringing him back to the Basque Country, while Crystal Palace and Tottenham have also been linked to him in the past.
