According to George Russell, the Mercedes team is diligently working to improve their race starts, a crucial aspect that has been lacking despite their strong performance in the current Formula 1 season. Although the team has secured four front-row lockouts, neither Russell nor his teammate has managed to take the lead after the first lap. The team's biggest weakness lies in their starts, but they have shown remarkable resilience to bounce back and secure victories in the first three races. Ferrari, on the other hand, has demonstrated exceptional starting skills, thanks to their compact turbo, which enables quicker spin-ups and easier launches. Russell emphasized that while opportunities to practice starts are limited, the team is thoroughly analyzing data to address this significant flaw. Speaking at the Pirelli tire testing in Germany, Russell highlighted the extensive work being done behind the scenes, including simulator sessions and data analysis, to enhance their performance. The team is gearing up for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, where they aim to rectify their starting issues and come out stronger.
