Rangers Stage Thrilling Comeback to Keep Pressure on Hearts

Rangers mounted an incredible recovery at Falkirk to remain firmly in contention for the Scottish Premiership title with just five games left to play. Despite starting the day in third place following wins by Hearts and Celtic on Saturday, Danny Röhl's team initially found themselves 2-0 down courtesy of goals from Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats. However, Tochi Chukwanui's strike before the break sparked a remarkable turnaround. A blistering start to the second half saw Rangers take a 3-2 lead after Youssef Chermiti and Nico Raskin found the net. Bojan Miovski added a fourth, although Falkirk briefly reduced the deficit to 4-3 through Calvin Miller's penalty after James Tavernier fouled Filip Lissah. Yet, Rangers' title aspirations were underscored as both Miovski and Chermiti scored again, putting the game beyond Falkirk's reach. This result propels Rangers back into second place, just a point adrift of leaders Hearts, with Celtic a further two points behind. The last time the top three teams in the Premiership all secured victories on the same weekend was a rare occurrence, and Rangers were determined not to let this record end on their watch. Chukwuani's contentious goal just before half-time ignited the comeback, as the home team seemed to pause in anticipation of a goal kick following Raskin's cross. The ball landed on Djeidi Gassama's head, whose header came off the post before Chukwuani converted the rebound. The introduction of Bojan Miovski for Mikey Moore at the break proved pivotal. Gassama, shifted to the left, won the ball on the edge of the Falkirk box, and his low cross was flicked home by Chermiti. Rangers' increased threat paid off as they took the lead in the 52nd minute, with Raskin scoring after receiving a pass from Aasgaard. Chermiti missed another opportunity before Raskin set up Miovski to score with a cross from the left. Falkirk were handed a lifeline in the 70th minute when Miller scored from the spot after Tavernier brought down Lissah. However, Raskin's forward burst and Chermiti's subsequent goal, following Gassama's blocked shot, restored Rangers' two-goal cushion. Raskin was eventually booked for a clash with Dylan Tait. Miovski sealed the victory two minutes from time, converting Oliver Antman's low cross from close range. Rangers head coach Danny Röhl reflected on the match, 'Our start was not ideal, but the reaction was outstanding. We focused on our task, and it's easier to go into the break with a win. The spirit is great, and the connection between our supporters and the team is evident. We are one team now, and this is fantastic.'
