Skelton Overjoyed by Trainers' Championship Victory

Dan Skelton has expressed his elation at securing the trainers' title, having made it mathematically impossible for anyone to catch him. The Alcester-based trainer had previously seen the title slip through his fingers on the final day of the last two seasons, but this year he has dominated from the start and become the first trainer to surpass £4 million in prize money. Skelton, whose current season total stands at £4,762,920 following an exceptional Grand National Festival, said: "It's truly amazing - we've worked tirelessly over the past few years to get close, only for Willie Mullins to pip us at the post, but it's fantastic to have finally achieved it." He added: "This is a testament to the entire team's efforts this year. We're thrilled with everyone's performance. The horses have been outstanding and consistent, and I must thank the staff and, above all, the owners who have supported me and helped us reach this position." With Willie Mullins' challenge fading in the final weeks of the season, Skelton can now bask in the glory of his championship win, which will be officially celebrated at Sandown Park on April 25.
